Top Five Run Highlights First Leg of Winter Heat For DJ Netto

PETERSEN MEDIA: Kicking his 2016 off at the 2nd Annual Winter Heat Showdown, DJ Netto and his DJ Netto Racing team have gotten better each night, as Netto turned in his best finish of the trip on Wednesday night by way of his fifth place finish.

“The guys have done a great job getting the car better all week long, and it is fun to get some laps on a track that we don’t have back home,” Netto said.

Friday night saw the 2016 season kick off and Netto would have issues in his heat race that would essentially put him in a hole the rest of the night based on the draw show format that was in place.

Lining up ninth in his qualifier, Netto would work his way forward on the extremely slick Cocopah Speedway, though he would finish in the fifth spot and be one spot outside of the feature. Following post race scales, the fourth place finishes was dq’d, and Netto would earn the final position in the feature event.

With the track taking rubber in the early stages of the feature event, Netto would pick up a few positions as he finished in the 18th spot and earned Hard Charger Honors.

Coming back on Saturday night, the Hanford, CA driver would draw the front row for his heat race, and took full advantage as he picked up the important win aboard his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Kaeding Performance No. 88n machine.

Lining up in the third row of his qualifier, Netto turned in a strong performance as he had his elbows up on a surface that had more grip, as he advanced to the third spot, and safely put his machine in the feature event.

Sitting third in points, Netto would grid the field from the second row for the 30-lap affair as he lined up against some of the best drivers in the business.

Holding his own, Netto would battle with the likes of Christopher Bell, Dale Blaney, and Joey Saldana as he races inside the Top-10. Though he would lose a few spots late in the race, Netto would finish eighth.

Rain postponed Tuesday night’s race to Wednesday, and another good draw saw Netto finish second in his heat before finishing third in his qualifier and moving into the feature event for the third consecutive night.

Lining up in the second row, Netto had a very strong car as he battled with Dale Blaney and Jason Solwold on a tricky track surface that dealt with off and on rain all night.

Holding his own, Netto would close the first leg of the Winter Heat Showdown out with a fifth place run.

“We have gotten better every night, and that is huge,” Netto said. “We will go to work and get ready for this weekend and hopefully keep running well.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, Kaeding Performance, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: Netto will return to action this Friday and Saturday night for the final two nights of the Winter Heat Showdown.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-3, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2
