PETERSEN MEDIA: Traveling to Alger, WA to battle with the ASCS National Tour during the Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway, Lucas Ashe would take his lumps as a flip during the Saturday night semi would ultimately bring his trip to a rough end.
“It was a tough weekend with the ASCS National tour,” Lucas Ashe said. “We weren’t able to get in any of the three feature events, and Saturday night we crashed pretty hard in the semi.”
The three-day extravaganza kicked off on Thursday night with the Cottonwood, CA pilot drawing a high number for his heat race. Lining the SALCO Inc./Lucas Oil/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 33 up in the eighth and final starting spot, Ashe would pick up a sixth place finish.
Starting and finishing ninth during his qualifier, Ashe would find himself in one of the twin ‘B’ mains as he looked for one of three transfer positions into the feature event.
Gridding the field from the sixth starting position in B Main No. 1, Ashe would battle with Jared Peterson and Lance Sargent. Getting into fifth, Ashe would miss out on the feature event by just two positions.
Friday night brought on another night of racing action at Skagit Speedway and again Ashe would have a tough pill draw and line up eighth in his heat race. An eighth place finish would again put him in a semi where he would line up in the sixth row.
With his work cut out for him, Ashe would do what he could from his 11th starting position. Picking up a couple of positions in the 12-lap race, Ashe would end his night with a ninth place finish in the semi.
Finding himself in the fifth row of the first B-Main event on Saturday night, Ashe’s weekend would come to a rough ending. Getting involved in a wild wreck, Ashe would flip wildly and bring his night to an early end.
“It was just a tough weekend all around,” Ashe said. “It was a deep field of cars and an unfamiliar track and we just struggled. I have to thank everyone that made this trip possible. Looking forward to getting back to California this week for a busy weekend of racing.”
Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, NAAKE Suspension, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, DMI Components, Shaver Racing Engines, Maxim, Rod End Supply, Lucky Seven Outlaw Wings, Fat Cat Propane, Pickern Allstate Ins., Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.
