PETERSEN MEDIA: Friday night at Belle-Clair Speedway, Tanner Carrick would have a super fast Keith Kunz Motorsports machine underneath him but a late race incident relegated him to a 13th place finish.
“We had a really fast car on Friday night,” Tanner Carrick said. “Even though the top was really tricky and treacherous I was able to make it work for the most part. I did bicycle and get out of shape and one point, and then we got collected in a wreck and ultimately fell back to 13th.”
Racing his way to a heat race win aboard the Craftsman/CVC/TRD backed entry, Carrick would line up fifth in the 28th Annual Knepper Memorial feature event. With the top being tricky, Carrick seemed to be up to the challenge, as he would go top shelf and work his way forward.
Racing his way into the third position, Carrick would continue to look for more as he closed in on the lead pack. Battling for second, the cushion would bite the Lincoln, CA driver as he would bicycle his mount and fall back to the seventh position.
Riding around in the seventh, Carrick would hold steady inside the Top-10 as the laps clicked down. With contact ensuing in front of him on the race’s final laps, Carrick would find himself with nowhere to go and get in on the unfortunate action as his night would end with a 13th place finish.
“I can’t thank the KKM guys enough for giving me a really fast car,” Carrick said. “I wish we could have finished better, but wrong place, wrong time.”
