Tough Night For Tiner

PETERSEN MEDIA: Steven Tiner has had a two-week run that has caused extreme frustration. After having suspension issues during the Memorial Day Weekend, Tiner returned to action on Friday night, and bounced through a hole early in the feature event, that ultimately forced him to retire from the race later in the event.

“It’s definitely been tough to swallow,” Tiner said of his recent string of bad luck. “My guys are continuing to work hard, so hopefully we can shake this off and get back to running well.”

Friday night at the Keller Auto Speedway, Tiner got his night started off by timing his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Elma Lanes No. 94 machine in seventh fastest of the 25 cars checked in for the ‘Battle For The Milk Can Opener’.

Finishing third in his heat race, the Visalia, CA driver would line his Deli Delicious/Fisher Racing Engines/Harvest Supply entry up in the second row for the 30-lap affair.

Working into the third spot as the race came to life, Tiner had his elbows up as he chased after the lead duo of DJ Netto and Ryan Bernal. On an extremely slick and rough racing surface, Tiner would catch a rut wrong, and cause rear suspension damage to his machine, but he would continue on in the third spot.

With the damage also severing a brake line, Tiner had his hands full on the slick surface, but still was able to show speed, as he began challenging for the second spot as the race reached the half way point.

Holding on to the third spot as long as he could, Tiner would finally exit the track on the 16th lap, and his night was over.

“We caught something wrong, and it ripped a shock off the rear of the car, and also took a brake line with it, so it was a handful for most of the race,” Tiner said. “We were really fast and had a good run going, but as the race went on, I felt like I was going to tear my own equipment up, or someone else’s up, so I pulled in early.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Elma Lanes, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-10, Wins-2, Top 5’s-5, Top 10’s-7
