PETERSEN MEDIA- If it wasn’t for bad luck over the last week, Mason Moore and the F&F Racing team wouldn’t have had any luck at all. In three races over Independence Day weekend, Moore and company would be involved in three incidents that resulted in two DNF’s.
“It was a tough weekend for sure,” Moore said. “We just didn’t seem to have anything go our way in any of the three feature events we were in.”
Kicking off on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Moore would get off to a nice start as he timed in second fastest in qualifying time trials, and won his heat race aboard the Geico/Econo Lube-n-Tune/Twisted team backed No. x1.
Moving into the feature event, Moore would find himself running in the sixth spot until issues with another car on the 18th brought him to a stop and forced him to the back of the pack.
In the final seven laps, Moore would do what he could in a short amount of time as he fought back to finish 12th.
Sunday night the team traveled to Stockton, CA to take on the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. Timing in third quickest in his heat race group, Moore would finish second in his heat race and move into the feature event.
Just missing out on a spot in the Dash, Moore would line up in the ninth starting spot for the feature event. Moore’s night would come to an abrupt end when the green flag waived, as he would get into the cushion in turn three wrong and get upside down and end his night.
Monday night saw the team in action for one final time for the weekend as they traveled to Petaluma Speedway for another showdown with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
Timing in fifth fastest in his qualifying group, Moore would grid the field from the fifth starting spot in his heat race. Working his way forward, Moore would finish third and transfer into the 40-lap feature event.
Finding himself back in the 16th starting position, Moore would work his way forward as he would get as high as the 11th spot before more bad luck. On lap 28, Moore would have issues with his right-rear as the wheel would break and it would again end his night prematurely.
“It was a brutal three nights of racing” Moore said. “I have to thank the F&F Racing guys for not giving up even though it seemed like the easier choice a couple of times. We will keep working hard and gear up for Fernley.”
Moore would like to thank Geico, Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Twisted Tea, Levin’s Auto Supply, Garth Moore Insurance, LRB Race Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Sierra Single Ply, Lucas Oil, RPI, and Encore Catering for their support in 2017.
ON TAP: Moore and the F&F Racing team will take a couple of weekends off before returning to action on July 29th in Fernley, NV.
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-15, Wins-1, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-6.
