Tough Weekend Sends Cox Back To Drawing Board

PETERSEN MEDIA: Coming off of a frustrating weekend of racing, Justyn Cox and his Cox Family Racing team are rolling up their sleeves and spending the week putting a new car together and making some changes they hope will show on the track.

“It was a pretty rough week of racing, and we are spending this week putting some new stuff together that will hopefully help us out,” Cox said.

Taking to the Placerville Speedway on Wednesday night, Cox would time his Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31c machine in 17th fastest in qualifying time trials before finishing seventh in his heat race.

Forced into the night’s B Main, Cox would line up in the third spot where he needed to finish in the Top-Four to transfer into the feature event. Battling with Logan Schuchart for the final transfer position, Cox would lose the spot and his night would end with a fifth place finish.

Putting in the 360ci engine and heading to the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA on Friday night to take on the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster, Cox would time in 24th quickest of the 43 cars in attendance on this night, which placed the Clarksburg, CA driver in the third row of his heat race.

Having some problems in his heat, Cox would be relegated to a 10th place finish which would again force him into the night’s B Main.

Taking the green flag from the fifth row, Cox would again have a tough run as he would finish in the 10th spot, and his night would come to an end.

“It was a really long and frustrating weekend for everyone,” Cox added. “Hopefully the changes we make this week help us in the right direction for two races this weekend.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2016!

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-6, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2

ON TAP: Justyn Cox will return to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night and will be back at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
