Traffic Gets Best Of Cody Lamar at Marysville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA- With the season quickly coming to a close and a tight championship far from being decided, Cody Lamar looked to be on his way to extending his lead on Saturday night until contact with a spinning car in traffic got his machine on its lid.

“We had a pretty good night going, and were in a really good battle with Tyler Walker for the top spot, but traffic got dicey and an evasive maneuver in traffic ended up with the car getting upside down,” Cody Lamar said.

Continuing to have a strangle hold on qualifications at the ¼ mile speedway, Lamar would again earn quick time honors on this night. Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Lamar would pick up a third place finish and move into the redraw.

The four pill would place Lamar in the second row for the 25-lap feature event. A nice start would see Lamar surge to the second spot as he set his sights on early race leader, Tyler Walker.

Find lapped traffic early on in the feature event, Lamar and Walker would both have trouble finding open real estate, and this would put the duo in a dead heat. With Walker continuing to lead the way, Lamar would make a bid for the lead on the 11th lap, only to see Walker return the favor and re claim the top spot.

With the duo continuing to right through traffic, a lapped car would get out of shape in front of Lamar, and as he used an evasive maneuver to avoid making contact, contact from another car would get him upside down on the 13th lap.

“It was an unfortunate night for us,” Lamar said. “We are right in the hunt for this track championship, and were in a position to battle for another win and earn some more points. It was fun racing with Tyler (Walker), but just a shame that it got cut short.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.
