PETERSEN MEDIA- Closing out the late Summer/early Fall West Coast swing, Ian Madsen and KCP Racing would tally a trio of 11th place finishes including one run from the 21st starting position.

“Wednesday night at Placerville we kind of got off to a slow start but we got going pretty good in the feature event and ran it up to 11th,” Ian Madsen said. “Calistoga was tricky to gain ground both nights so we will take those tow 11th place finishes and get ready to return to the Midwest.”

Checking in at Placerville Speedway last Wednesday night, Madsen would get off to a rocky start as he ended up 23rd quickest in time trials aboard the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 machine.

Starting and finishing sixth in his heat race, the St. Marys, NSW driver would stop be forced into the semi, where his run from seventh to third would punch his ticket into the 49-lap feature event.

As the track continued to widen out as the feature event unfolded, Madsen would make things happen from his 23rd starting position as he forged his way towards the Top-10. A late caution would bunch things up and Madsen would close his night out with KSE Hard Charger Honors as he finished in the 11th position.

Traveling to scenic Calistoga, CA for shows on Friday and Saturday night to wrap up the trip, Madsen opened the weekend up by timing in 11th quickest in time trials. Starting and finishing fourth during his heat race, Madsen would grid the field from the 11th starting position.

Feeling something in his engine compartment go south, Madsen was still able to go to battle on the extremely slick and abrasive surface. With it being tough to gain ground, Madsen would hold strong in the 11th position as the checkered flag flew over the field.

Saturday night’s Wine County Classic finale brought the final event of 2018 in California for the World of Outlaws and Madsen started the night off qualifying in the 14th position.

Finishing fifth in his heat, Madsen would transfer directly into the 25-lap feature event where he rolled off the starting grid from the 14th position.

On another slicked off surface, Madsen would make up some early ground as the field stretched out in what was nearly a non stop affair. Settling into 11th as the rubber went down, Madsen would cap his weekend with another 11th place finish.

“We strive to be better, but this season has been about figuring everything out and really being a rookie again,” Madsen said. “We have some familiar territory coming up these next few weeks so we will roll our sleeves up and focus on having a strong fall to end this year.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, Coverage Direct, Revolution Race Gear, Monarch’s, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
