Two For the Show; Robert Ballou Bags MSCS and USAC Wins

PETERSEN MEDIA: After a turbulent Eastern Storm which saw him pocket two Top-Five’s, Robert Ballou went to work and showed championship resolve over this past weekend. Sneaking in three races, Ballou was able to pocket wins with the MSCS on Friday night at Terre Haute Action Track, and on Sunday with the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series in dominating fashion at Angell Park Speedway.

“After dragging a boat anchor around all week in PA, we spent a lot of time in the shop this past week and decided to make this past weekend all about testing, and I would say we passed,” Robert Ballou said. “We made a late move on Friday to get a win before charging to 6th from 15th and Saturday, before going eight to first with USAC on Sunday night.”

Making the decision to stay close to home and battle with the MSCS on Friday night at THAT, Ballou sought after his second consecutive win at the track he spent much of his winter helping revamp under the new promotional group after his May win at the Hulman Classic.

Running second in his heat race, the Rocklin, CA driver lined up on the front row of the feature event. On the slick half mile, Ballou would settle into second as he bid his time and chased after race leader, Chase Stockon.

Looking very strong, Ballou took advantage of restart with just six laps left in the race. Powering to the top spot, Ballou would not be denied as he led the final laps to pocket his second win of the season at the famed facility.

Continuing to iron things out with his setup and engine, Ballou and company made the trip to Haubstadt, IN’s Tri-State Speedway on Saturday night for another round of MSCS action with the scheduled USAC event succumbing to rain.

Running fifth in his heat race, Ballou was mired deep in the starting grid as he took the green flag from the 15th starting position. After making some changes prior to the feature, ‘The Mad Man’ lived up to the moniker as he carved his way forward on the Indiana Bullring.

Working his way forward in a hurry amidst a feature event that was plagued with stoppages at times, Ballou would put on a show as he worked his way up to a sixth-place finish when the checkered flag flew on the 25-lap feature event.

Travelling to Sun Prairie, WI on Sunday night for a USAC National Sprint Car event, Ballou timed the Suburban Subaru/Deaton’s Waterfront Service/Dragonfly Aviation entry in eight fastest in qualifying time trials.

With an early start time due to local curfews, a slick surface in heat race competition saw Ballou operate smoothly en route to picking up the heat race win.

Lining up eight in the feature event, Ballou had a picture-perfect start to the race as he wasted no time racing to the top spot as he took over the race lead on lap on the seventh lap.

Out in front, Ballou quickly made it known it was his race to lose as he worked his way out to a six second lead as he began the lapping process.

With the race going non-stop, Ballou was never seriously challenged once we took over the race lead as he picked up his third series win of the season by a two second margin.

“These Don Ott engines rip and have been so critical in our success this season,” Ballou said. “After our heat, I wasn’t sure what the track would be like for the feature but who ever does their track prep did a fantastic job for the ‘A’, and we had two really good lines to choose some. Thanks to Levi, Derrick, Brittany, my buddy Tom, and everyone that supports our operation.”

Robert Ballou would like to thank Suburban Subaru, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Rossie Feed and Grain, Berks Western Telecom, Inc., Dan Roberts Motorsports, Dragonfly Aviation, Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, CSI Shocks, Walker Performance Filtration, Amsoil Inc, Murray’s Body Shop, Pacific Grass and Turf, MPHG Promotions Inc, Team Jack Foundation, Olson Custom Design, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, ISC Racers Tape, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, Moose Blocks, Inc., AO Designs, and Arai Helmets for their support.
