PETERSEN MEDIA- With the Month of Money kicking off this week for the World of Outlaws, Kerry Madsen and his Keneric Racing/American Racing team seem to be primed to take home some big prize money after Madsen picked up two more World of Outlaws Top-Five’s over the weekend.

“We had a good car both nights, and I really wanted to get a couple of podium finishes, but some restarts just did not go our way,” Madsen explained.

Saturday night at the Cedar Lake Speedway, Madsen got his night off to a fine start as he timed the Keneric Racing/American Racing entry in second fastest before racing his way to a heat race win.

Following a third place effort in the Dash, ‘The Mad Man’ would settle into the fourth spot as the feature event went green, as he felt pressure from younger brother, Ian.

Getting into lapped traffic, Madsen would work his way around Donny Schatz to take the third spot, as he used the cushion to his advantage.  Continuing to battle with Schatz in traffic, Madsen would fall back to fourth spot as the leaders raced in a tight packed group.

Following a lap 19 restart, Madsen would battle Jamie Veal for the third spot, but could not make a pass stick as he would settle back into the fourth spot, where he would go on to finish.

Returning to the Cedar Lake Speedway on Sunday night, Madsen would time the American Racing No. 29 entry in 10th fastest, and another heat race win would again put the St Marys, NSW driver in the Dash.

Charging from seventh to fifth in the Dash, Madsen would grid the field from the third row for the 35-lap feature event. Battling in the Top-Five much of the race, Madsen would make a late race charge to work into the third spot, as his brother again flanked him.

Looking to be well on his way to another podium finish with the Greatest Show on Dirt, a late caution would fly and the field would bunch back up. The ensuring restart did not go how Madsen had planned and he lost two spots as he slipped back to fifth where he would close out his weekend.

With his weekend, Madsen has now moved to within 51 digits of second place in the World of Outlaws season long standings.

“We are very strong, but we are just coming up short of our goals,” Madsen said. “We have some big time races on the horizon, and this team is definitely going into them with some confidence, but also with a huge desire to grab some wins. We have some great people behind us in the Gavranich family as well as the American Racing team, and we would love to thank them with a couple of cool trophies.”

2015 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-61, Wins-6, Top-5’s-33, Top 10’s-53

ON TAP: Madsen and the Keneric Racing/American Racing team will head to Lima, OH on Thursday night for the Brad Doty Classic, before a weekend double-header at the Eldora Speedway for the coveted Kings Royal.
