PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to racing after a tough stretch with the World of Outlaws to close out September, Sean Watts put a nice night together with the King of the West Series on Friday night that culminated with a 15th place finish at Ocean Speedway.

“We got off to a good start on Friday night, but in the feature we were a little tight and really couldn’t get going,” Sean Watts said. “It felt good to get back racing, and I am looking forward to Hanford this weekend.”

Timing the Grizzly Coolers/Schaeffer Racing Oil/Rolfe Construction backed No. 98 in 10th quickest in time trials amongst the 24 cars that were checked into the pit area for the 14th KWS event of the season.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Atwater, CA pilot would battle with Tim Kaeding, DJ Netto, and Justin Sanders for position. Finishing fourth, Watts would transfer to the feature event where he would grid the field from the 13th starting position.

Running 14th in the race’s opening stages, Watts would work up to 13th on the seventh lap on a track that was hooked up in the early stages. With the track still fast, Watts would have his hands full with a tight racecar as he worked towards a spot inside the Top-10.

Running in 13th until the 18th lap, Watts would lose a spot as he fell back to 14th spot during a battle with Brent Kaeding and Dustin Golobic. A late restart would put the field in double file formation and Watts would lose a spot as he slipped back to 15th where he went on to finish.

“We just couldn’t seem to get going in the feature,” Watts said. “We will look to get better this weekend when we get back to Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA. I’d also like to welcome a new partner aboard the WRS team, and that is Darrel Varni Eclectic, Inc. He came aboard Friday night, and we are really excited to have him aboard.”

Sean and the Watts Rolfe Speed-Sports team would like to thank Grizzly Coolers, Schaeffer Racing Oil, Rolfe Construction, Billet America, Darrel Varni Electric, Kaeding Performance, Shannon Pumps, Stealth Homes, Tee’s and Tops, Team Simpson, Kistler Racing Engines, and Stan Yockey Motorsports for their continued support.
