PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading west with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, Harli White was in action at the El Paso Speedway Park on Friday and at the Southern New Mexico Speedway on Saturday night, and successfully made both feature events.
“The ASCS National Tour has some of the best competition around, and we were happy to get into both feature events,” White said.
Drawing a low pill for Friday night’s show, White started on the pole of her heat race, but getting into turn one, the Lindsay, OK driver got pinched off and lost a few positions, as she settled for a fourth place finish.
Lining up sixth in the B, White looked to keep her Mesilla Valley Transportation/Jerry Tucker Roustabout/Lucas Oil backed No. 17w machine in the top six to transfer, and she did that, and more, as he worked her way up to a fourth place finish, putting her in the ninth row of the feature event.
When the feature event went green, White was able to pass a few cars and she worked towards the Top-10, but an early yellow brought trouble upon White.
With a bleeder sticking in her right-rear, White began losing air pressure and her tire, and went the race resumed, handling on her machine became tough, though she stuck it out.
Doing all she could with a difficult car under her, White would end the night with an 18th place finish.
Heading to New Mexico on Saturday night, White drew high for her heat race, and found herself starting in the fifth row on a very locked down surface. Finishing in the seventh spot, White again found herself in the B Main, where he again started in the sixth spot.
With the track still locked down, White was able to gain a few positions, as her fourth place finish transferred her into the feature event for the second straight night, putting her in the 10th row
The track did not change much heading into the feature event, and like it was all night, passing was at a premium. From the rear of the field, White was very patient and methodical in her moves as he crept her way forward, and flirted with the Top-10.
Battling with Seth Bergman and Sam Hafertepe, White was able to work her way to a 13th place finish.
“We had a decent car both nights, and it was fun to work our way forward on Saturday night,” she added. “Friday night I thought we were in a good spot, but our bleeder sticking really hurt us.”
