White Sheds The Wings and Earns Two Podiums

PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending her weekend doing some non-wing racing with the USAC Southwest Series as they took part in their Freedom Tour, Harli White turned in a strong week as she picked up three Top-10 finishes including two podium runs.

“I was really in my comfort zone all week racing non-wing, and we had a really good week,” White said.

Kicking her weekend off at the Lawton Speedway on Wednesday night with 34 cars on hand, White put together a nice charge in her heat race, but she just missed a transfer spot, and started on the front row of the B Main.

Finishing second in the B, White earned a spot in the feature event, though after a few attempts at getting the race started, White was collected in another attempted start and her night came to an end.

“With the way our week worked out, we got the worst of it out of the way early, and really put some nice runs together,” she added.

Thursday night at the Creek County Speedway, the Lindsay, OK driver was able to advance from fourth to second in heat race action to earn a transfer to the feature event, and put herself in the redraw.

Starting second in the feature event, White got off to a strong start as he held her own, and ran in the second spot during the opening circuits. As the race wore on, White’s machine started to go away, and she began lifting her front wheels off the ground. Doing all she could to keep her strong run going, White would lose a couple of spots, but would end her night with a sixth place finish.

Friday night saw White and her team travel to the 81 Speedway, where weather delayed the start of their night. On a locked down surface in heat race action, White started and finished fourth, earning a spot in the feature event, though she was back in the seventh row.

With the race track widening out nicely in the feature event, White came to life, as she was smart in her march to the front.

Finding some real estate to her liking, she was able to put on the drive of the night as she worked her way up to a second place finish.

“We had a really fast car at the 81 Raceway,” she said. “The weather kind of made heat races tough, so that put us mid pack, but we had an awesome car and I had a blast.”

The busy weekend came to an end on Saturday night with a stop at the Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, KS.

Lining up in the second row of her heat race on a heavy and rough surface, White was able to work her way to the lead, and win the race, putting her in the third row for the feature event.

With the track staying fast for the feature event, White was able to get a few cars on the initial start of the race, and she worked into the third spot on a late restart, where she would finish.

“We have had our fair share of rough luck, so it was great to have three nights-in-a-row of good fortune, and good luck,” she added. ‘I can’t thank everyone enough for their help and support.”
