PETERSEN MEDIA- Kerry Madsen and his Keneric Racing team endured an extremely wild night at the Rolling Wheels Raceway on Saturday night, but the team kept fighting and closed their night with an 11th place finish.
“It started out great on Saturday night, but in a matter of two laps our night got turned upside down,” Madsen said. “Luckily everyone worked extremely hard, and we were able to fight back to finish 11th.”
With just one race on the schedule over the weekend, Madsen got off to a nice start as he timed the American Racing Custom Wheels backed No. 29 machine in third fastest during qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the second row of heat race No. 3, Madsen would maintain his position and put the Keneric Racing/American Racing machine in the all-important Dash. Gridding the field in the second row of the six-lap shootout, contact with another driver would ensue on the opening lap, and Madsen would have a damaged front end, and be relegated to the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.
Getting off to a nice start, Madsen would get out of shape in turns three and four as he ran the cushion, and as he looked to get the American Racing Custom Wheels entry straightened up, more contact would ensue and his machine would get upside down.
Working feverishly in the pits, Madsen would be able to restart the race, and the fans were in a treat with a hot “Mad Man” coming form the back of the pack.
Able to put his Keneric Racing/American Racing machine anywhere he needed to on the ultra fast Rolling Wheels Raceway, the St. Marys, NSW driver was able to end what was a very wild night with an 11th place finish.
“It is just a testament to the team that we were able to get back on track, and move forward,” Kerry Madsen said. “As the season winds down, we are committed to picking up a couple of more wins for the Gavranich family, and the team at American Racing Custom Wheels.”
