PETERSEN MEDIA- Checking in for the 30th Dave Bradway Memorial on Saturday night at the event’s new home, Placerville Speedway, Willie Croft would put together a strong night that saw him earn QuickTime honors and finish fourth in the feature event.
“The night started off really good with us earning the Carwash Mike Fast Time Award,” Willie Croft said. “It is special as so many people contribute to the award, and we really appreciate it. To win in for the third year in a row is pretty cool as well.”
With 31 cars on hand for the crowned jewel event, Croft bested them all in time trials as he would earn the Carwash Mike Fast Time Award for the fourth time overall in his career, and third consecutive year as previously stated.
Lining up fourth in his heat race, the Colfax, CA resident would jump into the third position, where he would finish, and garner enough points to enter into the Sunnyvalley Bacon Dash.
Finishing third in the Dash, Croft would find himself on the inside of the second row for the 40-lap Dave Bradway Jr Memorial, as he looked for his second ever win during the storied race.
On a very slick Placerville Speedway surface, Croft would jump into the third position during the opening laps but would slip back to fourth on the race’s third lap.
Keeping his mount inside the top-five, Croft would quickly find the rubber that was being laid down on the bottom of the speedway and made sure to hit his marks over the course of the race.
Chasing after brother-in-law, Kyle Hirst, Croft looked for a way to get on the podium but with the narrow conditions he would take home the fourth place finish as he now turns his attention to Lucas Oil ASCS National competition the next couple of weeks in Washington.
“We have a couple of things I think we need to address and get figured out, but overall really happy with how the night went, and looking forward to getting up to Elma, WA and Alger, WA for some ASCS racing.”
