PETERSEN MEDIA- Willie Croft had himself a great night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour during their first ever race on Saturday night in Antioch, CA. Besting a healthy field of 58 cars in time trials, Croft would go on to finish fourth in the feature event.
“It was so cool to see so many cars come out and support a new series,” Willie Croft said. “We had some good speed at a track we have not seen in a few years, and it was nice to cap it off with a fourth place finish.”
Croft would kick things off by timing in fastest in his qualifying group which was also the fastest lap of the night in time trials, and he would line his Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/Brown and Miller backed machine up in the second row of his heat race.
Working his way up to finish second in his heat, the Roseville, CA driver would transfer into the feature event, and would also make himself Dash eligible. Lining up in the fifth spot of Dash No. 2, Croft would finish fourth which would place in on the outside of the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event.
On racing surface that was less than desirable for drivers and teams alike, Croft was able to work his way forward. With several restarts bunching the field back up through the night, Croft would take advantage as he worked his way toward the Top-Five.
When the wild race came to a close, Croft would take the checkered flag with a fourth place finish.
Willie Croft and team were also in action with the World of Outlaw Craftsman Sprint Car Series on Wednesday in Placerville, CA. Having a tough go in time trials, Croft would end his night by finishing ninth in the Last Chance Showdown.
“It was an interesting month with the World of Outlaws,” Croft said. “Our results were not great, but I believe racing with them makes us better for when the local stuff comes to life now. We had a good night on Saturday and I am excited to get back to work this weekend.”
Willie Croft Racing would like to thank Holey Smokes BBQ, ButlerBuilt , Brown and Miller, FK Rod Ends, Hinchman Indy, Factory Kahne, Schoenfeld, Smith Precision Products, Kaeding Performance, AL Drivelines, QTM, XYZ, Dan Olson Products, Vortex Wings, Amerikote, and GUTS for their support in 2017.
