PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in both the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and King of the West portions of the Cotton Classic, a parts failure would end Willie Croft’s night in the SCCT feature as he piloted the C&M Motorsports entry on this night before picking up an eighth place finish in the KWS feature.

“I have to thank Cody and Mandi for the opportunity to run their car on Saturday night, I wish we would have had some luck on our side,” Willie Croft said. “I also have to thank my guys for working hard and keeping up with everything on a pretty busy night.”

In Sprint Car Challenge Tour action, Croft timed the Moorefield Construction/PT Shocks/Swartz Diesel/Alturas Tire No. 7c machine in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials.

With some grease still on the surface in heat race action, Croft would pick up an important position as his fifth place finish moved him directly into the 30-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 19thstarting position, Croft would pick up a couple of early positions, though the heavy track made passing difficult. Bad luck struck Croft and C&M Motorsports on the eighth lap as a part failure would end the team’s night.

In KWS action, Croft got things kicked off by timing the Holey Smokes/BBQ/Brown and Miller/ButlerBuilt backed machine in second fastest amidst the 21 cars checked in for the series’ penultimate event of the year.

Just as it was during 360ci heats, a hooked up surface in KWS heats made passing very premium. Finishing fourth in his heat, Croft would have enough points to lock into the six-lap Dash.

Finishing fifth in the Dash, the Roseville, CA driver took the green flag from the third row for the 30-lap feature event.

In a fast paced feature event, the track wouldn’t go away as much as Croft and his team had banked on. With the car on the tight side, things would become difficult as the track offered some ruts and holes to maneuver though.

Keeping his machine afloat in the Top-10, Croft would close his night in Hanford, CA out with an eighth place finish.

“Again, big thanks to Cody and Mandi for the opportunity, and everyone associated with my team for their hard work,” Croft said. “Would have liked to have had better nights in both cars, but now we just turn our attention to Trophy Cup and see what we can do this week.”

Willie Croft Racing would like to thank Holey Smokes BBQ, ButlerBuilt , Brown and Miller, FK Rod Ends, Factory Kahne, Schoenfeld, Team Simpson, Stilo, Smith Precision Products, Kaeding Performance, AL Drivelines, XYZ, Vortex Wings, Amerikote, DoTerra and GUTS for their support in 2019.

2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-50, Wins-0, Top 5’s-11, Top 10’s-24.

ON TAP: Willie Croft will be in Tulare, CA this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for the Trophy Cup.
