Willie Croft Rides Roller Coaster To Ninth at Fall Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA- A very up and down trip to the Silver Dollar Speedway over the weekend came to a close with Willie Croft finishing ninth at the Fall Nationals.

“It was and up and down weekend, for sure,” said Willie Croft. “We had some mechanical issues knock us out of Friday’s event essentially during hot laps, but we came back strong on Saturday night. We were battling up front, had some help off the track, but still managed to get back up to ninth.”

With 52 cars in the pit area for Saturday’s Fall Nationals; Tribute To Stephen Allard finale, Croft would time the Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/Brown and Miller backed No. 29 entry in 13th fastest during his flight of time trials.

Lining up seventh in his heat race, a very racy Silver Dollar Speedway allowed for some great heats and Croft was able to work his way forward to finish third and find himself locked into the 40-lap A Main event.

Taking the green flag from the fifth row, Croft would show he had a very strong entry as he wasted no time working his way up into the Top-Five. Battling in traffic, Croft would be forced off the racing surface, which saw him slide to the back of the pack.

Still with a very potent machine under him, the Roseville, CA driver would fight his way forward, as he brought his Fall Nationals to a close with a ninth place finish.

“Hopefully we can shake this luck off with some more big races ahead,” Willie Croft said. “We have a really good car, and if we can get some things to go our way I think we will be contending for these wins. Thanks again to my guys who continue to work so hard for me.”

Willie Croft Racing would like to thank Holey Smokes BBQ, ButlerBuilt , Brown and Miller, FK Rod Ends, Hinchman Indy, Schoenfeld, Smith Precision Products, Kaeding Performance, Dan Olson Products, Vortex Wings, Amerikote, and GUTS for their support in 2016.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-22, Wins-4, Top 5’s-7, Top 10’s-11.

ON TAP: Croft is now slated to make an appearance at the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night for the fifth annual Abobe Cup. March 26th saw Croft win the season opening event at Petaluma, which locked him into this Saturday night’s feature event.
