PETERSEN MEDIA: Kicking his 2019 campaign off at the Tulsa Shootout where he would compete in four different classes, Blake Carrick’s week would be highlighted by his run in the Winged Outlaw class where he would work his way into the Last Chance Qualifier.

“I have to thank everyone at Factor1 who made this all possible,” Blake Carrick said. “We didn’t have the greatest luck in three of the classes, but I felt like we did well in the Winged Outlaw class and pretty good car all week.”

Non-Winged Stock and Outlaw competition didn’t go how Carrick had hoped as both classes saw his week come to an end in ‘C’ Mains.

With the wing on top, Carrick made some noise as he would get into a ‘B’ Main in the Stock class, and would advance all the way to the LCQ in the Outlaw class.

Stock or ‘A’ Class heat race action saw the Lincoln, CA youngster pick up a couple of important positions from his ninth starting position as he would tally a sixth place finish.

After 27 heat races we ran and points were tallied up, Carrick just narrowly missed out on a qualifier and instead found himself on the front row of a ‘C’ Main. Taking advantage of the prime starting position, Carrick had his elbows up as he raced his way to the win, and kept his Stock class week alive by moving into a ‘B’ Main.

Gridding the field from the 11th starting position in “B” Main No. 1, Carrick would continue to flex his muscle as he chased after one of just two transfer positions. Giving it everything he had, Carrick would get up to the sixth position when the checkered flag flew ending his Stock class Tulsa Shootout.

Winged Outlaw action saw the youngster line up third in his heat race and move forward as a second place finish would streamline his No. 37b entry into one of eight qualifiers.

Taking the green flag from the seventh starting position, Carrick would race wheel to wheel with some stiff competition, as he would take the checkered flag in the fifth position.

Moving one of the eighth ‘B’ Mains, Carrick, would punch his ticket into the Last Chance Qualifier with his second place finish as a trip to the big show was within his grasps.

Not having the LCQ that he was hoping for, Carrick would have a hard time making up ground from his 12th starting position. Trying anything to get into one of the eight transfer positions, Carrick would be unable to do so as he would end his week with a 13th place finish.

“To do what we did against some of the best in Micro racing was definitely a cool thing,” Blake Carrick said. “It is a fun week of racing, and I really have to thank everyone that made this possible.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake will now be idle until racing resumes outdoors in the coming weeks.
