(PETERSEN MEDIA- Aptos, CA)- After a very successful debut at the Calistoga Speedway back in April, the Wingless Series presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos makes it’s second and final visit to the scenic ½ mile facility on Saturday night as they run alongside the King of the West Series.
Leading the series into Calistoga Speedway will be new point leader, and the series’ lone winner at the track, Colton Slack. After having bad luck during the series opener at the Silver Dollar Speedway back in March, Slack has been a model of consistency as he has the aforementioned win back in April and is coming off of a pair of podium finishes with the series.
Flanking Slack in the season long standings is San Jose, CA wheelman, Gary Nelson, Jr. Sitting just 17 markers back of Slack, Nelson, Jr comes into Saturday night’s event fresh off of a third place finish at the Stockton Dirt Track. Making a late race charge in Stockton, Nelson will look to keep the momentum rolling and find series victory lane.
Sitting third in the standings is two-time feature event winner, Joe Stornetta. Having a brilliant start to the season, Stornetta had mechanical failure during the Stockton show, and lost valuable ground in the season long championship chase and sits 24 points out of the top spot. With two wins to his credit already in 2015, Stornetta is eager to get one spot better during this trip to the Calistoga Speedway.
The stars and cars of the Wingless Series Presented By Joe Hunt Magnetos have put on highly competitive races thus far in 2015, and are in the midst of a hotly contested championship where the top four cars are separated by a mere 34 points.
During the series’ most recent event at the Stockton Dirt Track, the night belonged to Austin Liggett. As Liggett made his first start with the series, he made sure to make it count as he set a New Track Record, before winning his heat, the dash, and the feature event after a late race battle with Colton Slack.
Back in April, Colton Slack became the series’ first ever winner at the Calistoga Speedway after taking the lead from multi-time series champion, Terry Schank, Jr, and then fended off a charge from Joe Stornetta to grab the inaugural win.
Drivers expected to be on hand Saturday night include Colton Slack, Joe Stornetta, Gary Nelson Jr, Shane Myhre, Nick Larson, Terry Schank Jr, Shayna Sylvia, Angelique Bell, Zach Kavert, John and Bradley Clark, Cody Fendley and a host of others.
