PETERSEN MEDIA- The last time winged sprint cars took to the Bakersfield Speedway, Shane Stewart competed aboard the potent Rudeen Racing No. 26 machine. Fast Forward to 2016, and Stewart will return to the speedway aboard the Larson Marks Racing No. 2 entry fresh off of a Winter Heat Showdown Championship, and just one season removed from runner up honors with the World of Outlaws as the series returns for the Budweiser Bash at the Bakersfield Speedway on April 15th.
With a large fan base in California after driving for Paul Silva and Mike Doyle in the early 2000’s, Stewart looks forward to returning to the West Coast, and enjoys when the series makes a return to a track after a long hiatus.
“I think it is great we are going back to Bakersfield Speedway this year,” Stewart said. “It is great for our sport to run in new markets, and when we have not been to a track in quite some time it usually creates a level playing field and makes for some great racing.”
With 2016 just a couple of weeks old, Stewart has been strong thus far in the New Year, as he picked up a pair of feature event victories at the recently completed Winter Heat Showdown, and earned the week long Championship.
“With Kyle (Larson) and Justin (Marks) both having California ties, it really means a lot to this entire team to run well in California,” Stewart added. “We are all looking forward to getting the World of Outlaws season underway, and the Budweiser Bash in Bakersfield, CA will be a welcomed event for sure.”
Tickets for the Budweiser Bash are now on sale, and fans can purchase their $40 reserved seating seats by calling 1-844-Dirt-Tix (347-8849). General Admission Tickets will be available for $35 while Kids 12-Under will be admitted for just $15.
Those wishing to camp out at the Bakersfield Speedway will be able to do so at no cost, and spots are available on a first come-first serve basis.
On April 15th, the World Of Outlaws Sprint Cars will make their return to the Bakersfield Speedway and the IMCA Modifieds, as well as the IMCA Stock Cars will join them for what should be a great night of racing during the Budweiser Bash.
