PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking of the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster over the weekend, Cody Lamar had nearly two identical nights though unfortunately the end was not what he and his team had in mind.
“We had really good speed both nights, and were able to put ourselves in good position for both feature events,” Cody Lamar explained. “Unfortunately both nights we fell victim to circumstance and got collected in two pile ups that ended our nights early.”
Saturday night at the Marysville Raceway, Lamar continued to dominate during time trials at the speedway as the current track record holder would earn quick time honors on this night, putting him in the first heat race.
Having a little trouble getting through his heat, Lamar would finish second in the night’s B Main event, which would put his A1 Septic/Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension entry in the fifth row for the 30-lap A Main event.
On a track that stayed pretty fast for most of the night, Lamar would hold the throttle down as he got off to a nice start. Running right around the Top-10 for much of the night, Lamar would get collected in an incident with just 10-to-go which would forced him back to the pit area with a DNF.
Heading to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night, a hefty field of 51 cars would see officials spilt qualifying up and Lamar would time in fourth fastest in his group.
An eventful heat race would see Lamar go to the work area on two occasions, and coming from the back of the pack with just two laps to go, a couple of swift moves on the thick cushion would see him steal the final transfer spot coming to the checkered flag.
Moving to the 30-lap feature event, Lamar would roll off the grid from the 10th starting spot on a surface that was extremely slick and hard on tires. Getting off to a slow start on the slick surface, Lamar would slowly start working his way back towards the Top-10.
Just before the race’s halfway point, there would be a massive pile up in turn four, and with nowhere to go, Lamar would again find himself collected in the mayhem, and for the second night in-a-row, his night would come to an early end.
“It was a tough weekend in both feature events, but I have to thank everyone who helps us out,” Lamar said. “We had a pretty good racecar, and hopefully we can take this week off, fine tune everything and come out strong to Placerville Speedway on the 11th.”
Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.
