Ryan Bernal Earns Podium at HK Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA: Ryan Bernal and the Josh Ford Motorsports team rebounded well from a Friday night rollover, as Bernal charged to a third-place finish during Saturday night’s Howard Kaeding Classic.

“Overall, we had great speed over the weekend, and on Saturday night I put the team in a good spot early and that allowed us to have a great finish at the Howard Kaeding Classic.”

Getting upside down in Friday night’s HK Classic opener aboard the NOS Energy Drink/Inland Rigging/MPE backed No. 73 machine, Bernal and company were back and ready for Saturday night’s finale where the Hollister, CA native timed in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race alongside Tim Kaeding, Bernal slipped into second as the action roared to life. Hanging on to finish in the runner up position, Bernal was locked into the feature event as he rolled off the starting grid from the eighth starting position.

In the early goings of the feature event, Bernal ran in seventh, but a restart on the 10th lap saw him power his way into fourth as he began to battle with Landon Brooks who held the final spot on the podium.

On an extremely slick racing surface, Bernal and Brooks went back and fourth until Bernal was able to clear him on the 18th lap and take over the ‘show’ position. In third, Bernal chased after his NOS Energy Drink teammate Shane Golobic, as race leader Justin Sanders who battled just ahead of him.

While he was able to slowly close in, the track did take rubber and slowed the pace down as Bernal settled into his position. When the 30-lapper concluded, he capped off a very strong night by parking the JFM No. 73 on the front stretch as he racked a third-place finish.

“It was unfortunate that we got upside down on Friday but I am happy we had a good run Saturday,” Bernal said. “It was a good spring board into this weekend’s race in Santa Maria, CA as the JFM team and I have very good track record there in Non-Wing action, so I am hoping we can have another good run with NARC.’

Ryan Bernal and TDR would like to thank NOS Energy Drink, Inland Rigging, JFM, BOXO, Dunkel Farms, Keizer Wheels, BR Motorsports, Pacific Highway Rentals, King racing Products, HBC, Macerick, RB Inserts, Osborne Speed and Machine, SURECAN, MPe, and Woodland Auto Display for their support.

JFM would like to thank NOS Energy Drink, Inland Rigging, MPe, SURECAN, Woodland Auto Display, Beilman Motorsports, and 1Way Technologies for their support in 2025.
