Torgerson Runs 12th at Talladega

PETERSEN MEDIA- Despite Mother Nature cutting the weekend short, Ashton Torgerson was still able to have a productive weekend with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series as he pocketed a 12th place finish on Friday night at the Talladega Short Track.

“The theme this year will be hitting a lot of places for the first time, and the goal will be to make gains as we make return trips,” Torgerson said. “Talladega is one that we won’t get back to this year, but I was really pleased with how things went for our team despite me making a few mistakes.”

Friday night saw the Glendale, AZ driver time the Shark Racing No. 1a in 22nd fastest after going out extremely early in the qualifying session. Putting him in the second row of his heat race, Torgerson held on to a fourth-place finish and found himself in the sixth row of the feature event.

When the green flag flew on the feature event, Torgerson got off to a nice start as he quickly moved into the Top-10 aboard the Pells Tire Service/Newman’s Racing Engines/Smith Ti backed entry. Battling between 10than d 11th for the first nine laps, one of those aforementioned bobbles saw the rookie slip back to 12th.

Despite falling to 12th, Torgerson continued to battle with the best of the best as he searched for a way back into the Top-10 as time ran low on the race. In the closing laps, Torgerson was able to work his way back into the 11th spot but on the final circuit he slipped back to a 12th place finish.

“Really solid night, I just need to clean up my mistakes and not put us in bad spots,” Torgerson added. “Again, thank you to everyone who supports our team and makes it possible for us to get up and down the road.”

Ashton Torgerson and Shark Racing would like to thank Pells Tire Service, Newman’s Racing Engines, Smith Ti, Triple X Race Co., Factory Kahne Shocks, and AZ HVAC for their support in 2026.
