Strong Start Goes South for Braden Chiaramonte
PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night at Mohave Valley Raceway, Braden Chiaramonte kicked off his 2026 season as he went to work with the USAC/CRA series. Having a strong start to his night, Chiaramonte’s night went south in the feature as he took a big ride in the feature event.
“We were just a little tight in time trials, but we made a couple of adjustments and had a very fast car in the heat race, and headed into the main with a ton of confidence,” Braden Chiaramonte said.
Timing in seventh fastest in qualifying, Chiaramonte lined up in the second row of his heat race. When the action went green, the youngster from El Cajon, CA had his elbows up and made a couple of nice moves to race his way in to the feature event.
Rolling off of the starting grid from the seventh starting position, Chiaramonte continued to show the speed that he had in his heat race and was able to work his way into fifth in the first couple of laps.
On the third lap however, things went awry for the Californian as he misjudged the opening he had ripping the top in turn four, and it resulted in him taking a wild ride, which brought his night to an end.
“I just made a mistake there early in the race, and it cost us,” Chiaramonte said. “I hate to crash, and I really hate the crash our first night out, but we will get it fixed and get ready for next weekend.”
