Sean Becker 5th at NARC Season Opener
PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action with Bjork Motorsports to open 2026 just after a hotly contest NARC championship battle in 2025, Sean Becker showed he would be tough again in the year ahead as he picked up a fifth-place finish at Merced Speedway.
“Typically, I feel really comfortable and up to speed at the first race of the year, but that wasn’t the case on Saturday,” Sean Becker said. “Fortunately, Brad Bumgarner made a couple of key adjustments that got us pointed the right direction for our heat, and we had a great car the rest of the night.”
In his first qualifying attempt of the year, Becker timed the Bjork Construction backed No. 7B entry in 18th fastest in qualifying time trials. Lining up sixth in his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver was able to pick up a fifth-place finish which placed him in the seventh row of the feature event.
On a slick Merced Speedway, Becker was able to avoid the chaos that was taking place around him. With a strong car under him, he was able to move into the Top10 on just the fifth lap as he continued to work his way forward.
Racing into eighth on the seventh lap, Becker made his way into 6th at the half way point. Moving into fifth on the 16thlap after an open red, Becker was in fourth on the 18th lap where it looked like he would go on to finish.
Continuing to hold down fourth, Becker fell to fifth on the final lap as a surging Dominc Gorden was able to get by him as he settled for fifth at the stripe.
“I really wanted to get our team a fourth-place finish, but Gorden blew my doors off on the last lap,” Becker joked. “Still, very happy to come away with a Top-5.”
