Tanner Carrick Runs Second At Silver Cup

PETERSEN MEDIA: Traveling to Chico, CA over the weekend to take part in the Silver Cup, Tanner Carrick bounced back from on track issues early on Friday night and recorded a second-place finish on Saturday night after leading much of the feature event.

“Friday night we got ran over early in the night and it pretty much dictated our finish, and on Saturday night we were really good, but traffic got tricky and it ended up letting Austin Wood get by,” Tanner Carrick said.

Timing in ninth fastest in qualifying time trials, Carrick was in prime position to contend for a Dash spot as he lined up on the front row of his heat race. Issues in the heat saw Carrick finish in the sixth spot which placed him 18th on the feature event starting grid on a very hooked up and fast surface.

Battling hard on the hooked-up surface, Carrick’s night came to an early end as he was credited with an 11th place finish.

Back in action on Saturday night, Carrick came out extremely fast as he timed the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in Sixth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Starting on the pole of his heat race, Carrick was not to be denied on this night as he powered to the win again on a very hooked up and fast Silver Dollar Speedway surface.

Pulling the one pill in the Dash draw, Carrick continued to flex his muscle on the lightning-fast surface as he powered to the Dash win and earned the pole for the 30-lap Silver Cup feature event.

When the green flag was displayed, Carrick continued to showcase the same speed he had all night as he jumped into early lead. Out front, Carrick quickly reeled in the back of the field as he began the lapping process and spent much of his race running through traffic.

Looking very strong out front, lap 17 saw him take evasive action in traffic and as he did so, it opened the door for Austin Wood to race by him. Slipping back to second, Carrick was unable to get back by Wood and went on to close his weekend out with a second-place finish.

“Bummed we couldn’t come away with a win, but happy to have really good speed all weekend,” Tanner Carrick said. “Big thanks to Clark and my guys for always working so hard.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 3, Wins: -0, Top 5’s: 1, Top 10’s: 2
