Robert Ballou Scores First Win of Season at Kokomo Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending his weekend at Kokomo Speedway, Robert Ballou flexed a little muscle as he swept the Saturday night program before capping the strong showing off with a second-place finish on Sunday night.

“I felt really good during our last outing a few weeks back, so it was great to keep that speed going at Kokomo Speedway,” Robert Ballou said. “Sunday night, I made some changes before the feature, but they did a little track prep while we were getting shoved to staging and our changes ended up hurting us a little.”

The Rocklin, CA driver’s weekend kicked off on Saturday night as he earned fast time honors in his qualifying group aboard the Suburban Subaru/Deaton’s Waterfront Service/Berks Western Telecom backed No. 12 entry.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Ballou showcased a very strong car as he worked his way forward. Powering his way into the lead, Ballou’s win put him in the second row of the 25-lap feature event.

When the feature came to life, Ballou wasted no time jumping out front. Jumping to second on the opening lap, ‘The Madman’ was out front on the second lap and never looked back.

Leading the next 24 laps, Ballou went on to score his first win of the 2026 season.

Returning to action on Sunday night, Ballou continued to showcase a very strong Ballou Motorsports entry. Timing in third fastest in qualifying time trials, Ballou lined up on the front row of his heat race.

Grabbing the early lead, the Rocklin, CA driver scored the win and found himself in the third row of the feature event.

Taking the green flag from fifth, Ballou dropped back to seventh on the opening lap but was able to quickly get going in the right direction as he moved into fifth on the race’s second stanza.

Making quick work inside the Top-5, Ballou found himself in second on the seventh lap and set his sights on Kyle Cummins who was out front. Not quite able to track Cummins down, Ballou capped his strong weekend off with a second-place finish.

“We decided to free our car up before the ‘A’ so we could run in the fluff above the cushion if we needed to, but before the feature they packed the top in and it didn’t play into my favor,” he added. “Overall, it was a really productive weekend and I feel good heading back into USAC action this weekend.”

Robert Ballou would like to thank Suburban Subaru, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Berks Western Telecom, Inc., Amy Gardner Roofing,  Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, Walker Performance Filtration, Amsoil Inc, Murray’s Body Shop, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, Moose Blocks, Inc., and AO Designs, for their support.
