Torgerson Closes April Out with World of Outlaws at Knoxville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Closing out the month of April with the World of Outlaws over the weekend, Ashton Torgerson had a tough weekend against a very loaded field at Knoxville Raceway.

“It was a tough weekend for us at Knoxville Raceway,” Ashton Torgerson said. “Not only is it a tough track, and you mix that in with an extremely strong field and you have to be perfect each time you hit the track.”

Friday night, the doubleheader weekend came to life and Torgerson timed the Pells Tire Service/Newman’s Racing Engines/Moxzy backed No. 1A in 13th in his qualifying flight.

Putting himself in an early hole, it would be extremely difficult to try and dig out as the Glendale, AZ driver found himself in the fourth row of his heat race. Finishing seventh, Torgerson moved into the night’s B Main, where he took the green flag from the seventh starting position.

Chasing after one of the four transfer positions that were up for grabs, a fast Knoxville Raceway surface made passing even more difficult. Finishing 11th, Torgerson’s night came to an end, and the team turned their attention to Saturday night action.

When Saturday night’s action came to life, Torgerson and the Shark Racing got off to a much better start as he timed in ninth quickest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, Torgerson held the position, which moved him directly into the 25-lap feature event. Taking the green flag from the 17th starting position, Torgerson was able to get his mount moving forward.

Working into 13th on the 4th lap, Torgerson continued to race hard around the famed ½ mile as he took over the 11th spot on the eighth lap. Getting into the Top-10, a late restart changed Torgerson’s night.

With cars getting out of shape when the green flag was displayed, Torgerson found himself tangled up with them which led to a 21st place finish.

“I was happy with how we raced on Saturday, and felt like we had great speed,” he added. “Unfortunately, we just got caught in a bad spot on a restart, which really hurt our result.”

Ashton Torgerson and Shark Racing would like to thank Pells Tire Service, Newman’s Racing Engines, Moxzy, Smith Ti, Triple X Race Co., Factory Kahne Shocks, and AZ HVAC for their support in 2026.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-18, Wins- 0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-5
