Andy Forsberg 9th in Chico, CA before a 3rd Place Finish at Placerville
PETERSEN MEDIA: Another busy weekend for Andy Forsberg and Pacific Highway Rentals Racing saw the Auburn, CA driver score a ninth-place finish on Friday night in Chico, CA before tallying a third – place finish on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.
“Friday night it was fun to get back up to Chico, CA and take part in the opening night of the Bradway Memorial weekend,” Andy Forsberg said. “The track was super top dominant early in the night, but following a rework before the feature it was right around the bottom and really tough to pass on.”
With 20 cars checked in for Friday’s ‘Champions Classic’, Forsberg got the night underway by timing the PHR/Wilkie Masonry/Western Traffic Supply backed No. 92 in 10th fastest in time trials.
Lining up third in his heat race, Forsberg settled into fourth as the action came to life and the field blasted around the high side of the speedway. Finishing in the fourth position, Forsberg turned his attention to the night’s feature event where he took the green flag from the 10th starting spot.
With the opening laps slowed by tangles and accidents, Forsberg was able to avoid the fray and was up in sixth once the race settled into an extended green flag run.
Continuing to work the bottom, Forsberg made a bid for fifth in the closing laps of the race but as he and another car got battling for the bottom, Forsberg’s corner entry got thrown out of whack and he slipped up and fell back to ninth.
Unable to pick up lost positions, he went on to close the night out with a ninth-place finish.
With the team’s commitment to Placerville Speedway in 2026, Saturday night saw them make the trip to the El Dorado County Fairgrounds where Forsberg got the night kicked off by timing in 4th fastest in time trials.
Lining up on the pole of his heat race Forsberg and fellow front row starter Jake Morgan had an entertaining battle as they raced through turns one and two. With slight contact ensuing, Forsberg slipped back to third, which then placed him in the 10th starting spot of the feature event.
Jumping into eighth when the race came to life, Forsberg was up into fifth on the fourth lap as the leaders quickly reeled in traffic.
Following a caution on the ninth lap, Forsberg used the restart to power his way into third as he chased after Justyn Cox and Shane Hopkins who ran just ahead of him. Again, getting into traffic, Forsberg looked to have a run on the lead duo but a caution on the 15th lap hindered him and put the front runners back in clean air.
As the race clicked off its remaining laps, Forsberg held down the third position where he went on to finish.
“It was a pretty good night for us at Placerville, and I was happy how we moved forward from 10th,” Forsberg said. “There was a couple of times I thought traffic was going to fall in my favor, but some untimely cautions hindered us a bit. We had really good speed, we just couldn’t quite get to that lead duo in clean air.”
Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Pacific Highway Rentals, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
