Tanner Carrick Charges to 7th at Dave Bradway Jr Memorial
PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his way to Chico, CA on Saturday night for the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial, Tanner Carrick bounced back from a slow start and finished seventh in a very eventful feature event.
“We didn’t get timed in very well at all, and that really put us behind,” Tanner Carrick said. “Luckily we raced well and survived some of the chaos in the feature event and had a decent result.”
With 29 cars checked into the pit area for one of the series’ most anticipated events of the year, Carrick got the night started by timing in 16th in qualifying time trials.
Finishing fifth in his heat race, Carrick locked himself into the 40-lap feature event but did have his work cut out for himself as he lined up in the 20th starting position.
Settling into 20th when the race came to life, the Lincoln, CA driver worked his way into 15th on a lap six restart. Amidst the race’s lone extended green flag run, Carrick worked his way into 13th before a slew of stoppages hindered the flow of the second half of the race.
Working into 10th on a lap 22 restart, Carrick continued to battle as he worked his way into 8th with just 10 to go. Continuing to use restarts to his advantage, Carrick was up into sixth on the 32nd lap following an open red.
Battling with Sean Becker in the final run of the night, Carrick lost the sixth position with 5-to-go, and capped his weekend off with a seventh-place finish.
“It was a very interesting feature with a ton of stoppages the second half of the race,” Carrick said. “Luckily, we were able to avoid some of the chaos and work our way forward.”
