Dakota Albright Dominates in Chico, CA as He Builds Momentum for High Anticipated Wayne Albright Memorial
PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to racing action on Saturday night after Mother Nature has slowed his early season schedule, Dakota Albright was hitting on all cylinders as he dominated the feature event in Chico, CA and now carries a ton of momentum into this week’s Wayne Albright Memorial.
“It was really a good night for us, and it felt great to finally get back racing,” Dakota Albright said. “We made a few changes to our car after the heat race, and we had a very strong piece for the feature.”
Despite having a slightly lower car count than usual in the BCRA Lightning Sprint division, Albright came out strong as he timed in third quickest in qualifying time trials which then put him on the front row of his heat race.
When the heat came to life, Albright was a little off as he slipped back to third aboard the Thompson’s Family of Dealerships/Matos Accountancy/Greenwood Machine and Fab backed No. 35Jr.
Finishing third, Albright and crew went to work before rolling out for the feature event where the Waterford, CA driver lined up on the outside of the front row.
As the Bob Scovel green flag was waived to the field, Albright was hard on the loud pedal and quickly jumped out front on the ¼ mile bullring. Out front, Albright clicked off smooth and consistent laps as he pulled away from the field.
Leading all 15 laps, Albright picked up the win in convincing fashion as he now turns his attention to this weekend’s Wayne Albright Memorial which pays homage to his late father.
“Really happy that we had a good car and that we were able to pick up a win as we head into my dad’s race,” Albright said. “My family puts so much effort into this race, and I am excited to head in there with a lot of confidence and a really good car for what will be the most grueling race of the season for us.”
Dakota Albright would like to thank Thompson’s Family of Dealerships, Matos Accountancy, Greenwood Machine and Fabrication, 530 Wraps, Oval Chassis Research, Parker Performance and Fabrication, Romey’s Window Cleaning, Nutcher Milk, Angels Heavy Haul, West Steel and Plastics, Calhot Powder Coating, Sala Racing, Petersen Media, and Simpson Race Products for their support in 2025.
