Landon Brooks 8th with NARC in Tulare, CA
PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA on Saturday night, Landon Brooks and the Hamilton Racing team charged from 16th and tallied an eighth-place finish.
“Qualifying is still hindering us, but we are racing really well,” Landon Brooks said. “We have really fast race cars at the end of the night, but starting in heavy traffic I really feel like we aren’t able to show just how good we are. We are gaining on it, and if we can get timed in better and not be so deep, I really think we will turn these Top-10’s into podiums.”
With 22 cars checked in for the third stop of the year at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA, Brooks timed the Lippert Construction/THE/Mozingo Construction backed No. 21L in 13th quickest in time trials.
Finishing sixth in his heat race on the slick surface, Brooks moved into the feature event where he rolled off the starting grid from the 16th starting position.
Moving into 12th when the race came to life, Brooks was patient as he rolled around the wall in the early goings of the race. Working into the Top-10 on the 14th lap, Brooks was able to move into eighth on the 15th lap as rubber started to go down in areas around the track and the field started to search for it.
Falling back to ninth briefly during a battle with Tim Kaeding, Brooks was able to use a restart on the 20th lap to sneak into eighth. Once in eighth the rubber began to become more prominent as the field found themselves single file for the final laps, and Brooks capped the night off with an eighth-place finish.
“I have confidence in my guys, and I know they have confidence in me and we are continuing to get better,” Brooks said. “Looking forward to getting back to Chico, CA this Saturday night.”
