DeCaires Night Cut Short at Skagit Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Having a great start to his night on Saturday at Skagit Speedway, an unfortunate issue while running inside the Top-10 brought Bubba DeCaires’ night to an early end in the feature event.

“We had a great night going, but unfortunately in the feature event something sounded off so I pulled into the infield and brought our night to an early end,” DeCaires said. “We timed in well, and everything else felt great so I really can’t wait to get back up there in a couple of weeks.”

Kicking his night off in time trials, DeCaires timed his Morrison Concrete/Max Sells powered by Red Leaf Realty/High Sierra Industries backed No. 94 in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Elk Grove, CA driver took advantage of the prime starting position and powered his way to the all-important win which also earned him a spot in the redraw.

Pulling the five, DeCaires was set to roll from the inside of the third row. After a couple of red flags to slow the start of the race, DeCaires settled into sixth as he looked for a way into the Top-5.

Clicking off a few laps, DeCaires felt something amiss under the hood of his mount and opted to play it safe and pull into the infield and call it an early night on the fifth circuit.

“It was definitely a bummer to have our night end like that,” DeCaires added. “I was really happy with how we timed in and how I felt racing, so I am eager to get back on track.”

DeCaires would like to thank Morrison Concrete, Max Sells powered by Red Leaf Realty, High Sierra Industries, JLC Performance, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Wion’s Body Shop, and QuickCar Racing Products for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-6, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-4

ON TAP: DeCaires will be idle this week before returning to action at Skagit Speedway on June 13th.
