Sean Becker 11th on Saturday Night of Louie Vermeil Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the seat of Dan Monhoff’s No. 35 over the weekend and traveling to Calistoga Speedway, Sean Becker finished 11th on Saturday night before a mechanical issue ended their run on Sunday night.

“I am really honored that the Hunt family wanted to attach the ‘Sharktales with Andy’ brand to the historic and prestigious Louie Vermeil Classic,” Sean Becker said. “It was a privilege to take part in all the festivities at this great event. I also want to thank Dan Monhoff for the opportunity to drive for him all weekend long.”

Getting the weekend of racing kicked off on Saturday night, Becker timed the Monhoff Builders backed No. 35 entry in 14th fastest in time trials before finishing seventh in heat race competition.

Moving into the feature event, Becker rolled off the starting grid from the outside of the seventh row. When the green flag was displayed to the field, Becker did ot fire off how he had hoped as he slipped back to 17th on the race’s first lap.

Taking a couple of laps to get going, Becker was able to move up into 15th on the fifth lap, and was up into 14th at the halfway point. With the race clicking off with no stoppages, passing was difficult, but Becker was able to make it work when the opportunity presented itself.

Moving into 13th on the 15th lap, Becker was able to pick up a couple of additional spots in the final 5 laps as he closed opening night out with an 11th place finish.

Back for more on Sunday night for the Louie Vermeil Classic finale, Becker got the night underway by timing in 13th in time trials.

Finishing eighth in his heat race, Becker then took the green flag from the eighth row on this night. Racing into 13th on the third lap, Becker ran there until issues arose on the 10th lap and forced him to end his night early.

“It was a great event, but I wish we could have been a little more competitive,” Becker added. “Racing for former Calistoga, CA residents, Dan and Kathy Monhoff definitely meant a lot to me, and I am grateful I got to share this experience with them coming home to so many friends and family members.”
