PETERSEN MEDIA: Heading to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the track’s regular season finale billed as the annual Forni/Humphreys Classic, Tanner Carrick was able to snag another Top-Five finish as he ran fourth in the feature event.

“We did everything right to put ourselves on the front row of the feature event, but unfortunately it was kind of a weird start and we got shuffled back a few spots,” Tanner Carrick said.

With 31 cars checked into the pit area vying for the $10,085 that was up for grabs, Carrick got his night underway by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T entry in eighth fastest overall.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver was quick to hammer the throttle as he jumped into the lead as the field rumbled into turns one and two. Leaving the field in his wake, Carrick secured the win which also garnered a berth in the nightly redraw where he pulled the ‘two’.

Set for the 30-lap feature event front row alongside Colby Copeland, Carrick’s car got out of shape as the field came to the green and he slipped back to third on the opening lap.

On a very slick surface, Carrick chased after the lead duo of Copeland and Max Mittry as he soon felt pressure from the likes of Tony Gomes and Shane Golobic who chased after him.

Falling back to fourth on the 13^th lap, Carrick was then a part of a very torrid battle for the third-fifth spots on the track as the trio of cars continued to take shots at one another.

Briefly getting back into third on laps 19 and 20, the action continued to stay hot and Carrick slipped back to fourth where he ultimately went on to finish.

“The way the track was, there was a ton of action for track position and it got intense at times,” Carrick said. “Thanks to Clark Riolo and all of the guys for their hard work and making sure we had a fast car all night.”
