PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to stay hot as the season winds down, Chance Grasty used a late race surge on Saturday night to net a second-place finish with NARC during the series’ lone visit of the year to Placerville Speedway.

“We went out late in qualifying and didn’t get great laps in,” Chance Grasty said. “Luckily we were able to win our heat race, and get in the Dash which really set us up for a good finish.”

25 cars checked into the famed bullring for NARC’s penultimate night of the season. Going out 17^th for qualifying, Grasty timed in ninth fastest in the session which put him on the front row of his heat race.

With the initial start being called back, the second attempt went without issues and it was Grasty getting the jump in the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Sierra Single Ply Roofing backed No. x1 entry.

Leading from start to finish, the win moved Grasty to the all-important Dash where a third-place finish put him in the second row of the 30-lap feature event.

As the feature event went green, Grasty settled into third as he chased after the lead duo of Colby Copeland and Dylan Bloomfield. On a fast surface, the first 13 laps went interruption free as the leaders raced hard in lapped traffic.

When the action resumed, Grasty continued to flank Bloomfield and Copeland and was waiting in the wings as they began to wage war on each other.

With five laps to go as they continued to battle for the lead, Grasty continued to run his race and was able to get Bloomfield for the second spot.

Closing in on Copeland himself in the final laps, he ultimately came up just short as he closed his night out with a runner up finish.

“We had two really long green flag runs, and it allowed us to spend a lot of time in traffic” Grasty said. “Once I passed for second, I was able to close in on (leader) Colby Copeland but I couldn’t quite get there in limited laps. Overall, it was a great night for everyone involved with our team.”
