Dakota Albright Picks Up Civil War Top-10 at Merced Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA- Making his first trip of the season to Merced Speedway, Dakota Albright picked up an eighth place finish the BCRA Lightning Sprints Civil War event.
“It really just wasn’t our night,” Dakota Albright said. “We just couldn’t quite get going, so to come away with an eighth place finish is pretty good considering how everything seemed to go for us.”
With 21 cars on hand for the Civil War round, Albright timed the Thompson’s Family of Dealerships/Johnson and Matos CPA’s/Greenwood Machine and Fab backed No. 35Jr in 14th fastest in time trials.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Albright settled into second as the race came to life on the bullring. Hanging on to finish second, Albright moved into the feature event where he took the green flag from the eighth starting position.
When the race went green, Albright got off to a good start as he made a couple of moves to get into sixth laps within the race’s first 10 laps. Hoping his car would continue to come to him, something just wasn’t quite right as he slipped back to eight by the 13th lap.
Falling back to 9th on the 15th circuit, Albright continued to search for speed on the high banked speedway. Able to get back into eighth on the 19th lap, Albright held on to close the night out with the top-10 result.
“I’m not sure why we were so off after how the first three races went,” Albright said. “When we got into sixth I thought we would get better as the race went on but we just were a step behind. We have a couple of weeks off coming up so we will have to go through everything and hopefully get some speed back.”
Dakota Albright would like to thank Thompson’s Family of Dealerships, Johnson and Matos CPA’s, Greenwood Machine and Fabrication, 530 Wraps, Oval Chassis Research, Parker Performance and Fabrication, Romey’s Window Cleaning, Nurcher Milk, Angels Heavy Haul, West Steel and Plastics, Calhot Powder Coating, Sala Racing, Petersen Media, and Simpson Race Products for their support in 2025.
ON TAP: Albright will be idle until action resumes in Chico, CA on June 7th.
