Joel Myers Jr Eighth in Opening Morrie Williams Tribute Feature
PETERSEN MEDIA: Back in action in his native CA over the weekend, Joel Myers Jr traveled to Tulare, CA to take part in the NARC Tribute to Morrie Williams Twin-20’s event where he picked up an eighth-place finish in the opening feature event.
“I really thought we had a solid night going through the first feature,” Myers Jr said. “With the second feature being inverted we tried a couple of things and just weren’t very good.”
Myers Jr got the night kicked off by timing the All About Fire Protection/Hi-Plains Building Division/DirtDudes Excavating backed No. 46JR mount timed in 10th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Taking the green flag for his heat race in the third starting position, Myers Jr held the status quo as the race went green and he settled into third. Finishing in the spot, Myers Jr was locked into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 10th starting position.
With the waiving of the green flag, Myers Jr got off toa nice start as he quickly jumped into ninth on a bit of a narrow racing surface early in the opening feature.
Moving into eighth on the 11th lap, he found himself in a hotly contested battle for the position as he bounced between ninth and eight for the next five laps.
Settling into the spot on the 16th lap, Myers Jr went on to finish eighth which put him back in the 10th starting position for the second 20-lap feature event.
With more track prep taking place, Myers Jr and company made some changes to their car for the second feature event and they did not quite work how they hoped. Struggling from the drop of the green, Myers Jr slipped back and ultimately capped his night off with a 17th place finish.
“It was fun to get back to Tulare and have some pretty good speed like we did much of the night,” Myers Jr said. “Thanks to Ivan, Dylan, Cooper, my family, and all of our great partners for making it possible.”

ON TAP: Myers Jr will reunite with the Hayward Motorsports team this weekend as they will battle with the IRA. Saturday they will be at Wilmot and Sunday they are scheduled to be in action at 141 Speedway.
