Mariah Ede 12th at Fair Race Opener
PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending her Memorial Day Weekend competing at the Silver Dollar Fair Race in Chico, CA, Mariah Ede tallied a 12th place finish in her preliminary night feature before missing a transfer into the finale on Saturday night.
“We fought some gremlins on Thursday night, and that put us in a hole on Saturday night with it being a points based event,” Mariah Ede said. “We were able to get the issues fixed, but we just couldn’t dig ourselves out fast enough.”
Hitting the track in Chico, CA on Thursday night, the Fresno, CA driver got the night underway by timing her Pacific Boring/M&L Plumbing/Circle J5 Ranch backed No. 14 in 16th quickest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up on the pole of her heat race, Ede was able to get the jump as she powered her way into turns one and two. Hitting the back stretch in the lead, she never looked back as she went on to score the win and lock herself into the 11thstarting spot in the opening night feature event.
On the slick surface, Ede settled into the to the Top-10 where she ran until moving into ninth on the 13th lap. Getting into eighth on the 18th lap, Ede made a bid to crack the Top-5 on the 20th lap.
Getting into sixth, issues arose that caused Ede to slip back to 12th as laps wound down.
With the track getting narrow in the final laps, Ede hung on to finish 12th as she would take Friday off before action resumed for her on Saturday.
Lining up fifth in her Saturday night heat race, Ede needed to get into the Top-4 to transfer into the feature, but after hard fought battle for the final transfer, she came up short and was forced into the semi.
Taking the green from the fifth starting position in the ‘B’, Ede again chased after four transfers into the feature event as she battled against the likes of Andy Forsberg and Sean Becker.
Running in sixth for much of the race, Ede looked for a way into the Top-4, but couldn’t quite make anything stick to get there.
When the checkered flag flew, she was on the outside, looking in, and her weekend was over.
“We fought hard all of Saturday but we just came up short,” Ede added. “My team worked hard all weekend, and we are ready to try again this weekend at the Dave Bradway Memorial.”
Mariah Ede and the Mariah Ede Racing team would like to thank Pacific Boring, M&L Plumbing, Circle J5 Ranch, FK Rod Ends, and MetTec Titanium for their support.
ON TAP: Mariah Ede will be in action this Saturday night with NARC as they invade Placerville Speedway for the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial.
