Joel Myers Jr and Hayward Motorsports Win With IRA
PETERSEN MEDIA: Joel Myers Jr and the Hayward Motorsports team were able to bounce back from a tough opener two weeks ago as the Sebastopol, CA grabbed a win with the IRA on Saturday night at Wilmot Raceway.
“It is great to bounce back and get a win with Brodie Hayward and the Hayward Motorsports team in our second night out this year,” Joel Myers Jr said. “We really had a strong end to the 2024 season together so it’s great to have speed again out of the gate.”
Checking in at Wilmot Raceway on Saturday night, Joel Myers Jr timed the IPC/Velocity Engineering/RPM Chassis backed No. 19 in fastest in qualifying time trials before charging to a second-place finish in his heat race.
Drawing the one for Dash No. 1, Myer Jr continued to flex his muscle at the Wisconsin track as he powered to the win and earned the pole for the feature event.
Leading the field to green, Myers Jr was shot out of a cannon when the race came to life as he set the early pace. As the laps clicked off, Myers Jr continued to lead the way as he kept a firm grasp on the top spot from start to finish. Leading all 30-laps, ‘Jr’ cruised to his 10th overall win in 2025 and his first of the season with Hayward Motorsports.
Traveling to 141 Speedway on Sunday night, Myers Jr couldn’t quite get timed in where he needed to be and was buried in both his heat and the feature event. Timing in 14th quickest in qualifications, Myers Jr transferred directly into the feature event after advancing to a fourth-place finish in his heat race.
Lining up 13th in the ‘A’, passing was at a premium on this night as Myers Jr capped the weekend off with a 13th place result.
“Saturday night we weren’t bad, it was just a track position game and not getting timed in well enough put us pretty far back all night long,” Myers Jr added. “Thanks to Brodie Hayward, and all of our partners for their support and giving us the tools we need to hit the track.”
