Braden Chiaramonte Nets Top-10 With SCCT
PETERSEN MEDIA: Racing with both the SCCT and NARC over the weekend at Placerville Speedway, Braden Chiaramonte worked his way forward to a ninth place finish on Friday night, and had another good run going Saturday night until getting involved in an incident that ended his night a few laps shy of the checkered flag.
“I really think we had a great car with both the 360ci and the 410ci in,” Braden Chiaramonte said. “We worked out way forward pretty well in the 360ci feature on Friday night, and Saturday we were in a good spot with NARC all night long, but a couple of mistakes really put me in a bad spot.”
Opening the weekend up with the Davy Thomas Memorial on Friday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, the El Cajon, CA driver timed in 10th fastest in his qualifying flight which then put him in the third row of his heat race.
From his fifth place starting position, Chiaramonte was able to improve his feature event starting spot by finishing fourth.
Pairing his heat finish with his time trial effort, the youngster rolled off the starting grid from the 15th starting spot on a very slick Placerville Speedway racing surface.
Though falling back to 20th in the first few laps, Chiaramonte settled in and began picking off cars as he raced towards the Top-10.
Getting into 14th on the 11th lap, he continued to fight forward as he was up to 13th at the halfway point.
Falling back to 15th as they raced in a tight pack, Chiaramonte used a restart to work his way into 13th, and then took over 12th on the 27th stanza.
Racing his way into 11th with laps running out, Chiaramonte moved into 10th, before using a green-white-checkered restart to secure a ninth place finish.
Swapping motors and returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to battle with NARC, Chiaramonte got off to a quick start as he timed the Tiner Hirst Enterprise owned entry in second fastest in time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Chiaramonte’s second place finish locked into him into the Dash where a fourth place finish put him in the second row of the 40-lap Dave Bradway Jr Memorial feature event.
As the race came to life and quickly got into an extended green flag run, Chiaramonte ran in fifth with cars jockeying around the speedway using the top and bottom grooves in the early stages.
Getting back into fourth on the seventh lap, Chiaramonte was back in sixth when the caution flag flew.
With the waiving of the green flag, Chiaramonte powered his way back into fifth where he ran until losing the position on the 18th lap and fell back to seventh as he bounced off the thick Placerville Speedway cushion.
Looking for a way back into the Top-5 as the laps clicked off, a lap 34 restart proved detrimental to him as cars tangled and he got a piece of the action and his night came to a close.
“Saturday night I felt really good in the feature, I just made a couple of mistakes working the cushion,” Chiaramonte added. “Big thanks to the Tiner Hirst Ent. team for all of their hard work.”
The Tiner Hirst Enterprise Racing team would like to thank Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Hepfner Racing Products, EMI, Fisher Racing Engines, System 1, Larry Davis Farms, and Slade Shocks for their continued support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 20, Wins- 0, Top 5’s- 4, Top 10’s- 8
ON TAP: Chiaramonte will get back to non-wing action as he is scheduled to be at Kern County Raceway on Saturday night.
