Dakota Albright Scores First Win of 2025

PETERSEN MEDIA- Dakota Albright bounced back from a tough outing two weeks ago in Chico, CA and picked up his first win of the season on Saturday night in Placerville, CA on what was Thompson’s Family of Dealerships Fan Appreciation Night.

“We had some engine issues a few weeks back, but we did some work and got it back to where it needed to be,” Dakota Albright said. “In Saturday’s feature, I didn’t feel super comfortable early in the race, but I was able to make it work and get our team into victory lane.”

With 12 cars on hand Saturday night at Placerville Speedway for Lighting Sprint action, the Waterford, CA driver got his night underway by timing his Thompson’s Family of Dealerships/Johnson and Matos CPA’s/Greenwood Machine and Fab backed No. 35Jr entry in sixth fastest in time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Albright settled into second when the race went green. Looking for a way into the top spot, Albright was unable to find his way to the point and settled for a second-place finish in his heat, which ultimately put him on the pole for the feature event.

When the green flag was displayed to the Lighting Sprint field, Albright got the early jump as he led the first three laps until a bobble on lap four allowed Greg Dennett to take over the race’s top spot.

Falling back to second, Albright continued to pace Dennett as he looked for a way back into the race lead. On the seventh lap, Albright was in position to capitalize on a Dennett mistake as he roared back into the lead on the seventh lap, and never looked back.

Leading the rest of the way, Albright raced on to score his first win of the 2025 season.

“When I lost the lead to Greg Dennett I thought we were on our way to a second place finish, but I was able to hang with him and took advantage of him having a misstep,” Albright said. “After the night we had a couple of weeks back, I am super excited to get to victory lane.”

Dakota Albright would like to thank Thompson’s Family of Dealerships, Johnson and Matos CPA’s, Greenwood Machine and Fabrication, 530 Wraps, Oval Chassis Research, Parker Performance and Fabrication, Romey’s Window Cleaning, Nurcher Milk, Angels Heavy Haul, West Steel and Plastics, Calhot Powder Coating, Sala Racing, Petersen Media, and Simpson Race Products for their support in 2025.
