Sanders Second During King’s Meat Night at Placerville Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA- Back aboard the potent Dale Miller Motorsports No. 4SA on Saturday in Placerville, CA Justin Sanders avoided a near disaster on the ninth lap before recording a second place finish during King’s Meats night at Placerville Speedway.
“We had another really good car on Saturday at Placerville Speedway, but unfortunately we came up just short again and ran second,” Justin Sanders said. “We had a near disaster in traffic early in the race, but luckily I was able to keep the engine fired and drove away.”
A total of 23 cars embarked into the Placerville Speedway for King’s Meats night at the Speedway and Sanders kicked the action off by timing the Anrak/Thompson’s Family of Dealerships/Yuba Sutter Aviation backed No. 4SA in third fastest in qualifications.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Sanders worked into third as the race came to life, which was good enough to not only transfer him to the feature event but it also included him in the nightly redraw reverting back to his qualifying efforts.
Having super fan, Jimmy Wall, do the drawing for him, Sanders ended up with the ‘one’ and then led the field to green for the 25-lap feature event.
As the race came to life, Sanders mashed the throttle as he powered into the early lead and was setting a very strong pace that saw him rapidly close in on the back of the field.
Getting into traffic on the eighth lap, the ninth lap saw Sanders and a slower car make slight contact that saw both cars spin around. Despite losing the handle, Sanders was able to keep his mount under power and took his spot at the front of the field for the ensuing restart.
When the accident was cleared and the green lights replaced the yellow, Sanders was under fire from Tony Gomes in turns one and two, as Gomes made a big move to take over the race’s top spot.
Falling back to second, Sanders continued to keep pace with Gomes but never quite had the opportunity to make a big to reclaim the top spot.
When the race came to a close, Sanders took the checkered with a second place finish.
