Mid Race Pile Up Ends Tanner Carrick’s Night

PETERSEN MEDIA: Back in action on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Tanner Carrick had a very good night going until a multi car altercation just prior to the race’s halfway point collected him and brought his night to an end while running in third.

“We had a really good night going on Saturday, and got off to a great start in the feature, but we endured some bad luck that ended our night early,” Tanner Carrick said. “We were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and got collected.”

Making his way back to Placerville Speedway with his Carrick Motorsports team, the Lincoln, CA driver timed the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T in ninth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Carrick picked up the win and earned a spot in the redraw, but his drawing woes continued as he pulled the five and lined up in the third row of the 25-lap affair.

Despite high temperatures and two sprint car divisions on hand Saturday night, the track surface stayed in really good shape and it allowed Carrick to quickly jump into third when the green flag was displayed to the field.

Chasing after Justin Sanders and Andy Forsberg who ran first and second, the leaders quickly caught the rear of the field and began to put cars a lap down.

On the ninth lap however, chaos ensued and Carrick found himself with nowhere to go and collected in a pile up. The result essentially was that Carrick’s night was over with too much damage to repair and he retired to the pit area.

“I hate it for the guys, because we have had so much speed lately but just not a lot to show for it,” Tanner Carrick added. “We have a big night up coming this weekend, and I am hoping we can run well in all three divisions.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 30, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 11, Top 10’s: 18
