Chance Grasty Battles Mechanical Gremlins During High Limit Weekend
PETERSEN MEDIA- Turning their attention to Kubota High Limit Racing for a couple of weeks, Chance Grasty and the F&F Racing team battled mechanical woes in Tulare, CA and Placerville, CA and will unfortunately miss the 410ci portion of the Gold Cup Race of Champions.
“I was really excited to get back to 410ci racing,” Chance Grasty said. “We had a pretty good night going on Friday until I lost oil pressure late, and then on Saturday something let go in the midst of another solid run with High Limit Racing. Really bummed for the team, because we will only be able to compete Wednesday night at the Gold Cup now.”
Heading to Tulare, CA on Friday night to kick off the swing with Kubota High Limit Racing, Grasty ended up timing the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Sierra Single Ply Roofing backed No. x1 entry in 24th quickest which put him the third row of their heat race.
Lining up sixth, the Suisun City, CA pilot was able to snatch the fifth and final transfer into the feature event late in the race, though he did line up 20th on the starting grid.
When the race came to life, Grasty began to work his way forward as he clawed his way towards the Top-10. Getting into 13th, a late restart saw the youngster drop a few positions. As he looked for a way to make up the lost track position, he began to lose oil pressure and opted to pull into the infield and call it a night.
With everything checking out during maintenance, Grasty and company were back in business on Saturday night as the scene shifted to Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA.
Getting off to a much better start on this night, Grasty timed in 10th fastest in his flight, and again ran fifth in his heat race to lock into the star-studded feature event.
Again lining up 20th in the feature, Grasty was again having a nice charge through the field. Work his way into the Top-15 by lap 17, Grasty was up into 14th at the halfway point of the race until things went south on the 21st lap and his night was over with a mechanical failure.
“It was really a tough way to end our night, and basically end our Gold Cup as well,” Grasty said. “We raced really well, and I was hoping we could keep getting the car better with two more nights, but the engine issue will only allow us to run the 360ci now. Big thanks to my guys for their hard work on what is really a tough turnaround for us CA teams.”
F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Sierra Single Ply Roofing, Wrayvon, CRV Carbon Solutions, Quick Change Liquid Energy, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.
ON TAP: F&F Racing and Chance Grasty will be back in action on Wednesday night to open the Gold Cup Race of Champions in 360ci action.
