Becker Collected In Tangle During Gold Cup Feature

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in the 71st Gold Cup Race of Champions in Chico, CA with High Limit Racing, Sean Becker had a nice charge during his preliminary night feature as he worked his way forward to a 10th place finish before being collected in a tangle while running 14th in Saturday night’s finale.

“I really want to thank my Bjork Motorsports team for working so hard all week to get us better each time we hit the track,” Sean Becker said. “I really felt like we were onto something on Saturday but unfortunately we got collected early in the feature.”

Taking on the stars and cars of the High Limit Racing tour on Thursday night for his prelim, Becker got things underway by timing in 20th quick which put him in an early points hole.

Lining up on the front row of heat race, the Roseville, CA driver was able to settle into second as things came to life. Holding on to second, Becker locked into the feature event as he took the green flag from the 15th starting spot.

Slipping back to 16th when the prelim night feature came to life, Becker was up to 15th by the fifth lap as the field worked around the slick surface.

Working into 14th at the halfway point of the race, Becker continued to gain steam as he was in 13th a lap later.

A big move on the 16th lap saw the current NARC Championship contender power his way into 10th  as he hooked up in a torrid battle with Brady Bacon.

Able to clear Bacon, Becker settled into 10th where he went on to close his night out.

Back in action on Saturday night for the Gold Cup Race of Champions finale, Becker lined up in the second row of his qualifier with just three transfer berths up for grabs into the big show.

On a racy surface, Becker quickly found his way into third as the race came to life and settled into the final transfer spot. Holding the position for all eight laps, Becker locked into the 71st Gold Cup Race of Champion feature event as he took the green flag from the 19th starting position.

When the championship feature went green, Becker again got off to a strong start as he began racing his way towards the Top-10.

On the slick surface he was able to work his way forward and was up into the 14th spot when trouble struck on the 10thlap and he was collected in a tangle which brought his night to an end.

“We were really off to a good start in the feature Saturday, and I just hate it for everyone it ended how it did,” Becker said. “Again, big thank you to the Bjork Motorsports team for working so hard all week.”
