Joel Myers Jr 11th at Four Crown Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA: Eldora Speedway has been a place that Joel Myers Jr just couldn’t quite get comfortable at in the limited starts he made at the famed ½ mile. Over the weekend, he had his best showing there yet, as he raced into his first career feature at the track and pocketed an 11th place finish in the Four Crown Nationals feature event.

“The ½ miles have really been a struggle for us, but as of late we have seemingly got better each night out on them,” Joel Myers Jr said. “We had a good car Friday, I just made a mistake in our heat and looped it, but Saturday night we were really good and I had a blast ripping the top in the feature event.”

Missing out on transferring into Friday night’s feature by just one position in both his heat race and the ‘B’, Saturday night saw a determined Myers Jr aboard the Velocity Engineering/Dirt Dudes Excavating/IPC backed No. 19H entry.

Lining up in the third row of his qualifier based on Friday night results, Myers Jr finished sixth which put him in the second row of the ‘B’ Main. With four transfer positions up for grabs, Myers Jr was able to quickly move into third and give himself some breathing room as he worked around the high-banked ½ mile.

Finishing third, he was locked into his first career Eldora Speedway feature event as he took the green flag from the 23rdstarting position.

From the rear of the field, Myers Jr has his right rear on the Eldora Speedway wall and was able to make up ground in a hurry as he surged towards the Top-10.

Getting into the Top-15 just past the halfway point of the feature, Myers Jr was up into 13th on the 20th lap and moved into 11th with eighth circuits left in the race.

Slipping back to 12th with five to go, Myers Jr was able to get the position back on the final lap as he capped the weekend off with an 11th place finish.

“We are definitely getting our car and our package better on the half miles, and you really have to have your car right when you take on High Limit or the Outlaws because those guys are so good on the bigger track,” Myers Jr said. “Thankful to have great people behind me, and looking forward to the rest of our season.”
