Sean Becker Back on Podium at Adobe Cup
PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending another weekend in the Dan Monhoff owned No. 35, Sean Becker traveled to Petaluma Speedway in Petaluma, CA for the Adobe Cup with the SCCT and picked up a third place finish when all was said and done.
“Dan Monhoff and I are a pretty strong combo at Petaluma Speedway, and Saturday night he gave me a car that was good enough to win the race,” Sean Becker said. “We were able to put ourselves in a great spot all night, I just made a couple of costly mistakes.”
With 23 cars checking in with the SCCT at Petaluma Speedway for the $5,000-to-win Adobe Cup, Becker got the night kicked off in fine form as he timed in fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver continue to showcase a strong Dan Monhoff prepared entry as he quickly worked his way into second.
Needing to find a way to pick up the win to automatically earn the pole of the Dash, Becker settled for a second place and then pulled the five in the redraw.
Going from fifth to fourth in the High Sierra Industries Dash, Becker lined up alongside Andy Forsberg in the $5,000-to-win feature event.
When the race got underway, Becker quickly worked into second as he had a very strong car underneath him. Chasing after Justyn Cox who had jumped out to the early lead, Becker also felt pressure from Forsberg who was right in the thick of the battle as the duo got into traffic despite the race being hindered by cautions.
A slight bobble on the 10th lap allowed Forsberg to get by him as he slipped back to third, and as the lead trio continued to distance themselves from the field and get into heavy traffic, Becker was back in second on the 18th lap as he got around Cox and directed his attention to Forsberg who was now out front.
In the waning lap, another bobble allowed Cox to slip back by as Becker fell to third, where he ultimately went on to finish.
“I just hate that I made a couple of mistakes that set us back,” Becker said. “I think we had a shot. I am bummed we didn’t win, but really proud of the effort and the speed we had to end up on the podium.”
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-35, Wins-0, Top 5’s-8, Top-10’s- 22
ON TAP: Becker is TBD if he will race this weekend in Chico, CA but will for sure be back in action on October 4th in Tulare, CA when NARC action resumes.
