Andy Forsberg 6th at Maryville
PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Marysville Raceway on Saturday night to take part in the track’s first points event of the season, Andy Forsberg rebounded from issues while leading in traffic to finish sixth in the feature.
“It was the polar opposite of last week as far as weather and the car count, but Saturday night was really good crowd, great weather, but we had another gnarly surface,” Andy Forsberg said.
With 17 cars in the pit area on this night, Forsberg timed the Pacific Highway Rentals/Wilkie Masonry/Western Traffic Supply No. 92 in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials.
Needing to win his heat race to make the redraw, the Auburn, CA driver did just that as he picked up the much-needed win which put him in the redraw where the two-pill put him on the front row of the feature event.
When the race went green, Forsberg shot out to the early lead and quickly began reeling in the back of the field as he methodically worked around the tricky surface that was presented on Saturday night.
With traffic causing some hair raising moments, Forsberg did all but get upside down at one point and it allowed Jaden Bunch to grab the lead as Forsberg worked to get back pointed the right way.
Packing his left rear full of mud, Forsberg went to the work area and was able to make quick repairs, and as he rejoined the field he lined up in eighth with the amount of cars he lapped in the early goings of the race.
Able to pick up a few positions in the final laps, Forsberg closed the night out with sixth place finish.
“Traffic was wild, and I was just thankful that we didn’t get upside down and tear a bunch of stuff up,’ Forsberg said. “Thanks to my team for working hard, and this week we will try again in Chico, CA.”
Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Pacific Highway Rentals, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
